How to Help
There are plenty of ways you can help! Here are a few:
Become a Volunteer
Volunteers are needed every day from Tuesday through Saturday, with
occasional Sunday opportunities also available. Worksite volunteers must
be at least 16 years of age. No construction experience is necessary. To
volunteer with Sleeping Giant Build contact Mike Healy (233-0141), Don
Deloge (230-0169), or sign up online.
What to
wear and bring
Volunteers
should wear clothing and shoes appropriate for the weather and work on a
construction site. Layers of clothes are best for cold days. Habitat
will provide all of the tools necessary however, if you have a tool belt
you are welcome to use it.
The workday is
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and volunteers are asked to arrive on time to
facilitate work assignments. Upon arrival volunteers will be asked to
sign a consent and waiver form.
Unless you are
with a group that is providing lunch you will need to provide your own.
In warm weather you should also bring water as well. Parking at most
worksites is limited and carpooling is recommended.
Make a Donation
Sleeping Giant
Build welcomes both monetary and in-kind donations. In-kind gifts can be
in the form of skilled labor (licensed electrician, licensed plumber,
sheetrock taper for example) and/or materials suitable for new
construction. Checks should be made out to: Habitat for Humanity of
Greater New Haven, with a notation that they should be applied to
Sleeping Giant Build.
The mailing
address

ALL
donations are tax deductible.
Become a Premier Sponsor
Encourage your organization (business, congregation, civic group, union)
to become a Premier Sponsor. Sleeping Giant Build must raise $50,000 in
donations and/or in-kind gifts to sponsor a house. Premier sponsors are
asked to pledge a minimum of $3,000 and to periodically provide volunteers
to work on site. To find out more about a sponsorship , click here:
