We need your help at our largest fundraiser!
We need your help! On Saturday, October 12, Sleeping Giant Build has the opportunity to raise funds toward our 11th Habitat home by helping with parking at the Head of the Housatonic Regatta in Shelton, CT. This opportunity requires many volunteers! Volunteers collect parking fees and direct traffic to parking spots. No special skills are required. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Groups are welcome.
Three shifts are available:
- 6AM – 9AM
- 9AM – 12PM
- 12PM – 3PM
Here, you’ll log into your Habitat Volunteer account or create one (it’s easy to do). Then, on the volunteer events grid, sign up for the Regatta (last column on the right). On the signup site, you’ll find more information such as the exact address and what to wear.
If you have trouble signing up to help, contact Allison Mangles, Volunteer Coordinator, at (203) 785-0794 for assistance.
We Need Your Help
Volunteers are needed every day from Tuesday through Saturday, with occasional Sunday opportunities also available. Worksite volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. No construction experience is necessary.
When You Volunteer
Volunteers should wear clothing and shoes appropriate for the weather and work on a construction site. Layers of clothes are best for cold days. Habitat will provide all of the tools necessary, however, if you have a tool belt you are welcome to use it.
The workday is from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and volunteers are asked to arrive on time to facilitate work assignments. Upon arrival volunteers will be asked to sign a consent and waiver form.
Unless you are with a group that is providing lunch you will need to provide your own. In warm weather you should also bring water as well. Parking at most worksites is limited and carpooling is recommended.
